ABOUT SAVU
“A sauna is a very simple thing. The simpler it is the more likely you are to enjoy it and the better it will be for you.”

WHO WE ARE
Hi, we’re Dave and Nicole, co-founders of SAVU. Together, we have a strong belief that wellness and nature go hand in hand. We believe that wellness should be a lifestyle, not a luxury. We believe in the healing benefits of sweat and that a sauna practice infused with mindfulness can change how you live and feel.
If there’s anything we’ve learned from being on this planet for almost four decades, it’s that humans have a primal need to be well. It is in direct response to this that we created Savu. A brand that embodies wellness as a lifestyle and sole purpose is to deepen the imperative bond between humans and nature through unique sauna experiences.
We are wellness enthusiasts applying our diverse knowledge, ideas and resources to confront the need for radical societal healing. For all who realize that nurturing the health of our land, the vitality of our souls, and the resilience of our minds and bodies are inseparable.
Our dream is to infuse this love and appreciation of sweat bathing into communities all across the United States in a unique way that brings the outdoors in. To the curious and creative minds of the world and to places you’d least expect. Together, through rational, emotional and cultural connection, we will reimagine the landscape of wellness through sweat healing.
WHY SAUNA
Sweat heals. Humans have used sweat bathing for centuries to cure a myriad of ailments. Today, thanks to evidence-based research, we know that the universal healing nature of sweat has tangible and measurable benefits. The basic mechanism is simple. When you experience extreme heat, your core body temperature rises. In response, your body releases heat shock proteins (HSPs) and pushes 20-30% of your blood volume out into your extremities.
The first response, HSP production, creates a cascade of responses that create long term health benefits when produced regularly. The production of HSPs leads to increased heart rate and metabolism, leading to weight loss. It improves your vascular elasticity, which leads to a healthier heart and circulatory system.
The redirection of blood flow (also called shunting) is the other primary physical response to heat. This process is a mechanical one. It happens when the HSPs circulate through your system and cause the blood vessels in your muscles and skin to open up. This shunting increases circulation in your smallest blood vessels by up to 200%. it is this process that facilitates cellular flushing and faster recovery.
